Information for Volunteers |
What is the Hunger Cleanup? The Annual Hunger Cleanup is a national, one
day community service work-a-thon in which student volunteers raise money while working
with programs for the hungry and homeless. Similar to a walk-a-thon, the Cleanup
mobilizes thousands of students across the country who gather hourly pledges from
family and friends for their volunteer work in local shelters and soup kitchens.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 and to mobilize 500 volunteers for this event. Cleanup Day: Saturday, April 1, 2000 from 9am-12pm Check-in: Check-in will be in the Hughes Hall Formal Lounge, American University
beginning at 7am. You must be there at 7am! Dress: Dress appropriately. Wear hats or bandanas, just in case you are painting. Do not wear clothes that you do not want to get dirty. Current Confirmed Sites: Covenant House Washington, SOME (So Others Might Eat) and Hannah House. Additional sites coming soon. |
